The Rain City Flyers Stampede Cross Country Races took place on October 27 at Woodland Park in Seattle. Lindsay Call placed 9th in the 3000 meter Midget Division race in a time of 13:25. Michael Mendenhall was 6th in the 4000 meter Youth Division race in a time of 16:12.
The 1st Annual King's Cross Country Invite was held in Shoreline, WA on September 22. Youth Cross Country runners Kyra Burke, Michael Mendenhall, and Simon Barbe all ran strong races in the Junior High events. Kyra tied for first place overall in the 1.4 mile (1.6 mile?) race in a time of 9:35. Michael was first overall in the boys race of the same distance running 8:59 with Simon a few seconds back in 9:07.
The Langley Pacific Invitational was held in Langley, B.C. from June 15 through June 17. Audrey Western of team Wings of Eagles, won the Women 11 Year Olds 800 Meter Run over several faster seeded runners in a time of 3:13:84. She was also victorious in the Girls 11 1500 Meter Run, winning by over 3 seconds in a time of 5:34.34.
On June 16, the Fall City Days 5K and 10K races were held. Another strong youth contingent was present as Simon Barbe, Ashley Nichols, and Lindsey Call all ran strong in their respective races. Simon went under 40 minutes and set a PR with a time of 39:07 in the 10K, finishing 21st overall and 1st in his age group, 11-14. Ashley was the 6th female across the 10K finish line in a time of 43:57, good for 1st in the 15-19 age group. Lindsey ran a PR in the 5K race, covering the course in 22:42. She was also lucky enough to win a weekend stay at the Salish Lodge from the post-race raffle.

Yakima, Washington was the site of the 2007 Gap2Gap relay on June 2. Simon Barbe and Kyra Burke, both age 12, competed in the Junior 13-14 Solo Boys and Girls races respectively so they could complete the longer distance. Simon parlayed the 3 minute lead he built up during the running leg to finish first in a time of 48:30. Kyra finished 3rd among the girls in a time of 53:02.
The Issaquah Triathlon & 5K was held on June 2 with a cross country style 5K run. Lindsey Call was third overall and first in the 19 and under age group. She made a great effort for second place overall coming up just 0.2 seconds short. 58 women and 127 runners overall ran the race.
Audrey Western finished first of the girls aged 10-14 in the Seattle Parks and Recreation 3000 meter race at West Seattle Stadium on May 24.
Simon Barbe ran fast under the shade of the California Redwoods at the Avenue of the Giants 1/2 Marathon on May 6. Simon finished 17th overall and 1st in his age division in a time of 1:29:51. Photographs are viewable here.
Burlington, WA was site of the Skagit Valley Tulip Run on April 7. Several SRC Youth Members competed in the 2 and 5 mile distances. Simon Barbe improved his time by 3 minutes over last year to finish 1st in the M11-13 age group with a 31:22 at the 5 mile distance. Not far behind in 2nd place for M11-13 was Michael Mendenhall in a time of 34:21. Kyra Burke won the F11-13 age group and Liz Penney won the F14-16 age group for the 5 mile run. In the 2 mile event, Audrey Western won her age group (F9-10) and was 2nd overall behind Amy-Eloise Neale.

The 18th Annual Club Northwest Spring Break Open Meet was held on March 31 at the Edmonds District Stadium in Edmonds, WA. SRC youth member Nina Penner won the Women's 1500-meter run in 5:39.3.
The Mercer Island Rotary Half Marathon and 10K Run saw some familar winning faces near the top of the leaderboards on March 25th. SRC Youth member, Ashley Nichols, won her age division, F15-19, finishing nearly fourteen minutes ahead of second place. Finishing 42nd out of 651 women in her first attempt at this distance shows some great potential for the future. The 10K race was filled with SRC representation at the top of the results with youngsters Kyra Burke and Liz Penney both finishing in the top ten. Kyra's first 10K race at age 11 was run in an amazing 42:06.6, good for 5th place overall. Liz is just 13 and ran an outstanding 43:50.3, finishing in 8th place overall.
Northwest Trail Runs hosted a non-competitive run on March 24th at Sammamish's Soaring Eagle Park. The ironically named location bogged down about 40 runners with "slow, mucky trails" but couldn't slow down fifteen-year-old Charlie Hodgman, SRC Youth XC member, who tied for first in the men's race with SRC store employee, Brian Morrison. They both battled the rain and finished with a time of 1:15:56.
LaConner, WA was host to the 10th Annual Smelt Run on February 24th. Speedsters Simon Barbe, Lindsey Call, and Kyra Burke took first in each of their respective age groups. Simon 11-14 male 10K (40:52), Lindsey 10 and under female 5K (23:00 PR), and Kyra 11-14 female 5K. Kyra also blazed the 5K course to a second place overall for female in a PR time of 20:55.
